Messages: 2. I'm in a full on battle with my Stihl FS90R. It's running poorly so I decided to dig in and rebuild the carb, then I replaced the carb, did the plug and adjusted the valves.
No carbon issues in the muffler. So, while it was idling on the bench, I took some carv cleaner and sprayed around the carb mounting surface and it immediately stalled. I have pulled the carb and changed gaskets, changed carbs, no luck. Same issue.
I also pulled the intake off and cleaned everything up. The gasket looked good and I didn't have a replacement for that. What's my next step? Any help would be appreciated. During those years, we've encountered numerous problems or things breaking. So during the past several weeks, I've been making repair videos and adding them to my Youtube channel.
I've made videos showing how to replace the clutch, compression test the trimmer, Carburetor pressure test, Carburetor adjustments, and testing for spark.
Hoping some of these videos can help others fix problems that I've encountered in the past. You can check them out by going to one of the following videos and then go to my youtube channel for the others.

Messages: I've replaced a few carburetors on our FS90s that still needed adjusting before using them. From what I understand, they're all adjusted to a standard setting at the factory, but depending on altitude and even use, they may need to be adjusted to run richer or leaner.
You usually don't want to mess with the High speed screw very much maybe just a littlebut the low speed screw can be adjusted to get it to run better. That's been a common problem with several of our trimmers.
Not sure it will fix your problem, but worth a try. I made a video addressing the issue, it's at the end of the following video:. Messages: 5, BigFishFeb 7, You must log in or sign up to reply here. If your Stihl FS 80 trimmer does not seem to be performing properly, you may need to adjust the carburetor settings. Stihl supplies an adjustment tool with every FS 80 that is designed to help you accomplish this task. Do this with the engine turned off. Turn the unit so the right side is facing you. The carburetor and idle adjustment screws will be located near the center of the engine as you look at it.
Turn the low speed screw marked "L 1" clockwise until it is fully seated. Following that, turn the screw counterclockwise one full turn. Adjust the idle screw marked "LA" by turning it either clockwise or counterclockwise until the cutting head does not rotate. Determine your altitude above sea level.
Your trimmer may require special fine-tuning adjustments. Turn the high-speed screw approximately one-quarter turn for every 3, feet 1, meters of altitude change. Turn the high-speed screw clockwise to fine-tune it for high-altitude use. Continue turning it until there is no perceptible increase in engine speed.
Perform this task with the engine running. Turn the high-speed screw counterclockwise to fine-tune it for use at sea level. Continue gradually turning it until there is no perceptible increase in engine speed. Adjust the idle screw, turning it either clockwise or counterclockwise until the cutting head does not rotate. The carburetor needs adjusting if the air and fuel mixture is uneven. If either the fuel, or the air supply is too high, the engine will cut out or sputter, using fuel and oil inefficiently. Stihl carburetors have adjustment screws that let you change the air and fuel mixture in the engine. Start up the engine and allow it to warm up. The cutting tool will rotate.
